Her family's move to the Lowcountry allowed her performance career to take off, and she has been gigging regularly around the island and beyond since the age of 13.

He received his undergraduate and law degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. An avid reader and student of Southern history and literature, he currently lives on a farm with his wife, Helen Ruth, in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The Tannery is his debut novel.
