Art has proven again and again to produce real results in the world, and so seeing it work should come as no surprise. And yet, because the effects of art begin inside us, in the world of heart and mind, we sometimes notice a tendency for people to wonder if art is something we can really depend on.

Morbi vitae purus dictum, ultrices tellus in, gravida lectus.

Here, among The Shops at Sea Pines Center, we can testify that artists and their work, the impact it can have on our world, is definitely real. We find a new occasion to depend on it coming soon. In fact, the event is just a month away.

Sights and Sounds and Tastes for Good

When VIVID Gallery hosts Fun with the Fox again this year, on Wednesday, October 18, the occasion gives us a lot to look forward to. Deas-Guyz, Hilton Head Island’s favorite show band, will work their musical magic in the plaza, as hors ‘d oeuvres from Lowcountry Produce are served. Beloved singer-songwriter, Sara Burns will be back to weave the spell inspired by her life here.

Last year’s event proved that the visual arts are part of the fun, too. VIVID Gallery welcomed new friends and old acquaintances alike, to browse and sip and chat and stroll through the art photography of Jeff Keefer. “It was one of our best days ever,” Jeff said. As former chair of the Michael J. Fox Foundation to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease, Jeff donates not only all the proceeds of Fun with the Fox, but also the day-by-day earnings of VIVID Gallery.

“Thanks to generous donations, all our Fun with the Fox ticket sales last year went to the Foundation, to fund research,” Jeff said. “And there is great news now about progress in treatments.”

Leading into the Fun

Some of the artists we got to know from the First Thursdays Art Markets that cheered the plaza in The Shops at Sea Pines Center over the past few years have asked to return this fall. And so, a pop-up art market is being prepared, to lead the way into the festival side of the plaza.

You are invited to join us before the 6 p.m. opening of Fun with the Fox. Artists will exhibit beginning at 5 p.m. and Lowcountry Produce will present a Champaign tasting at your entry to the plaza. Merchants as always are part of the fun. There’s a book signing outside By Hand, Ink, and Joni will be presenting a special trunk show at The Back Door, to name just a couple.

When Deas-Guyz begin to play at 6:30, the festive mood will already be well under way. Tickets for Fun with the Fox are easy to get, and you can be sure your ticket price is going to a very good cause.
