One of Hilton Head Island’s most anticipated annual events is back – and this year, it’s bringing a fresh beat to a powerful cause.
Fun with the Fox, the spirited fundraiser hosted by VIVID Gallery, returns to the plaza at The Shops at Sea Pines Center on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The evening promises a vibrant mix of food, music, and community – all in support of research to cure Parkinson’s disease.
This year’s headliner is Folderol, a Hilton Head-based band that’s earned praise from Texas Jazz as “a funhouse of a musical supergroup.” Their eclectic sound and local roots make them a perfect fit for an event that blends celebration with purpose.
“Each year we’ve seen the impact grow,” said Jeff Keefer, founder of VIVID Gallery and organizer of the event. “People keep spreading the word, and we felt that putting Folderol on our stage was a great way to celebrate that momentum.”
A Personal Connection
For Folderol, the cause hits close to home.
“A couple of us have relatives who live with Parkinson’s,” said bassist Davey Masteller, a longtime fixture in the Hilton Head music scene. “I’ll never forget the day my aunt started showing symptoms. Watching her fight to remain engaged was both heartbreaking and inspiring – she was such a strong, independent person.”
And Bandmate James Berry’s father, who passed away in 2002, battled Parkinson’s for the final nine years of his life.
“Any breakthroughs in treatment or steps toward a cure are invaluable,” said Berry. “Which makes every fundraising effort for this cause profoundly worthwhile.”
Masteller added that the opportunity to perform at Fun with the Fox felt like fate.
“When I was asked if Folderol could headline, it was like the stars finally aligned,” he said. “We couldn’t be happier to help in the best way we know – through the gift and joy of music.”
Flavorful Fun
The evening’s culinary offerings are just as exciting as the music. Lulu Kitchen, named one of Hilton Head’s top restaurants by Southern Living, returns with tastings and appetizers. Also, back by popular demand are the Blade and Board Chefs, serving their signature paella, simmered with locally sourced seafood.
“What we’ve learned over the years is that everything happens at once,” Keefer said. “Cocktail conversations, concert cheering, dancing, and browsing the gallery – folks find lots of fun ways to move through the evening.”
Every Dollar Counts
Thanks to generous local sponsors, 100% of ticket sales go directly to Parkinson’s research. Last year’s event raised more than $50,000, helping fund breakthroughs like the discovery of a biomarker for diagnosis and new therapeutic drugs now in trial.
“We no longer have to rely on a judgment call,” Keefer explained. “We’re seeing real progress – and every ticket helps push it forward.”
Join the Movement
Tickets are available now at funwiththefox.com for $100. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. on October 8 at The Shops at Sea Pines Center, with Folderol taking the stage at 6:30 PM.
“Fun with the Fox has become a kind of thank-you to our whole community,” Keefer said. “Our volunteers, sponsors, and the amazing merchants and restaurants here make it all possible – and they make it fun, too.”
With music that moves, flavors that delight, and a cause that inspires, Fun with the Fox is more than a party – it’s a celebration of hope, heart, and healing.
